Cruise and GM scale autonomous fleets with cloud-enabled innovation

Cruise, an autonomous vehicle company, and General Motors entered a long-term strategic relationship with Microsoft to accelerate the commercialization and scaling of self-driving, all-electric shared vehicles. By selecting Microsoft Azure as Cruise's preferred cloud provider, the partnership brings advanced cloud and edge computing, AI, and data storage capabilities to the autonomous vehicle domain. Microsoft’s cloud services support Cruise’s development, deployment, and scaling of AV solutions for safer, cleaner and more affordable transportation. Azure enables Cruise to commercialize unique autonomous vehicle offerings, while also providing GM with resources to digitize operations, support the launch of new electric vehicles, and drive innovation in manufacturing and customer mobility services. The collaboration resulted in a $2B equity investment in Cruise, facilitating faster innovation and product deployment. The use of Azure's infrastructure, AI, and data services allows for scalable, reliable, and secure operation of self-driving car fleets.
