Eckes-Granini accelerates supply chain sustainability compliance

Eckes-Granini, a leading fruit juice producer in Germany, faced increasing demands to ensure the sustainable sourcing of its raw materials and comply with Germany's Supply Chain Due Diligence Act. To meet these regulatory and corporate sustainability goals, the company leveraged a suite of Microsoft technologies including Microsoft Intelligent Data Platform, Microsoft Azure, Azure OpenAI Service, Power BI, and Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability. This enabled centralized supplier data, automated review processes, and real-time visibility on supplier sustainability progress. Eckes-Granini connected essential data sources, visualized supplier progress, and rapidly automated assurance letter processing, preparing the company for current and future regulatory requirements. As a result, nearly 70% of their juice ingredients now meet advanced sustainability standards, and supplier survey processing times and manual effort were sharply reduced, boosting operational efficiency and resilience. The project exemplifies how advanced analytics and AI-powered automation can deliver tangible improvements in supply chain compliance and risk mitigation for a consumer goods company subject to new environmental regulations. Sustainability data was centralized, enabling proactive tracking and risk management across the supplier network. The technology foundation also supports ongoing adaptation to regulatory changes and deeper supplier engagement. The case demonstrates how digital transformation directly supports business continuity, resilience, and environmental goals for large-scale food and beverage supply chains.
