Itron Enhances Utility Operations with Microsoft Azure OpenAI and Copilot AI
Itron, Inc. is working with Microsoft to embed generative AI Copilot technology into its Intelligent Edge Operating System (IEOS) so utilities can query siloed operational data in natural language. The integrated platform is built and running on Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service and is intended to help utilities access advanced analytics across electricity, gas and water distribution, distributed energy resources and related systems. Initial applications include Itron's IEE Meter Data Management System and Operations Optimizer, with global availability planned for Q2 2025.
